We are B-UN!TE, a group of youth aspirants from Youth Corps Singapore; a programme under the National Youth Council of Singapore that encourages lifelong volunteerism by matching youth volunteers with critical community needs.  Although our group is diverse with varying backgrounds, we have a common goal – to create positive change in the community.

We’re currently on a year-long journey to make an impact to the community. Our team is partnering YMCA of Singapore and we are currently doing a community service project to provide electricity in a sustainable manner to Ban Lad Khammune, a suburban village in Luang Prabang, Laos.

After a short recce trip to the village in March 2015, we have assessed the problems and needs of the villagers and are currently working to provide electricity for them, which we will be implemented when we visit the village again in June 2015. We have in mind plans to provide a stable source of lighting for the village clinic via the use of solar panels. In addition, we also hope to come up with a proposal for long term electricity generation in the village so that more villagers will have access to electricity and thereby improve their lives.
